How it Works

Like selling a pack of tickets online

2. Customers Buy Online

Your customers will visit your online storefront and buy credit for your services. The credits are instantly added to your customers' accounts.

3. Do Your Thing

Just provide your service as you always do and mark your customer's credits as redeemed. The credits are instantly removed from your customers' accounts.

  1. Set up your storefront. Set price points and descriptions for each of your services, allowing your customers to begin pre-paying. Your rates are based on credits - so your customers will purchase credits (like tickets!) to spend on your services. When you set up your price structure, determine how many credits you would like to charge for a given service. This enables you to encourage customers to pre-pay for more services by offering a quantity discount. For example here's a screenshot of a sample fee schedule for a weekly meet-up hosted by the Tall Poet's Society:

  2. Promote your storefront. Each store will have a unique link that allows your customers purchase credits towards the products your products and services. Let the world know about this link! Show it off: tell your current customers, post it to your website, blog, social media outlets, online newsletters, send it in promotional emails. Here's an example of the Tall Poet's Society's storefront located at http://www.gravityfree.ca/merchant/tall-poets-society:

  3. Transparency into customer accounts. Not only will purchases appear in your merchant account, but your customers will see the number of credits they have remaining at any given time. This ensures you and your customer complete transparency. Below is an example of what you will see when a customer purchases your service:

A merchant's view of purchased services.

And the following is an example of what your customers will see when they purchase your services:

  4. Redemptions made easy. When customers redeem credits for your service, you just need to mark a service as redeemed in your customer list. Your customer's account will immediately be updated immediately.

  5. Getting paid. Gravity Free uses PayPal for all monetary transactions so payments go directly into your PayPal account. Don't worry if you don't have a PayPal account already - you can sign up here or we will guide you through the steps when you receive your first payment. Your customers don't necessarily need a PayPal account; they can always pay for their purchase using a credit card through PayPal.
